Terms and Conditions
Last updated October 18, 2026
These terms are a legally binding agreement between you and Chetan Mahajan, sole proprietor trading as ThingsLinker, 403, Satyamev Elite, Nr. Satyamev Shivalik, SP Ring Road, Bopal, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380058, India (“ThingsLinker”, “we”, “us”). They apply to our website, the ThingsLinker mobile app, our web portals, APIs, firmware library, and related services (together, the “Services”). Please read them carefully.
In short
- By using ThingsLinker you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
- You must be 18 or over, and you are responsible for your account and for installing and using your devices safely.
- Remote control and alerts are not fail-safe. Never rely on them for safety, medical, life-support, or emergency purposes.
- The Services are provided “as is”, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows (Section 15).
- Fees for a billing period that has started are not refunded on voluntary cancellation; Section 7 sets out when refunds apply.
- Disputes go to an independent arbitrator in Ahmedabad under Indian law.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
1. Agreement to these terms
By creating an account, installing the app, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it, and “you” includes that organization.
Some purchases and projects have their own documents:
- Hardware bought from our online store is covered by the store’s Terms & Conditions and Return Policy.
- Custom engineering work is covered by the signed proposal or agreement for that project.
- Organizations may have a separate written agreement with us covering service levels, support, data handling, and liability.
Where one of those documents conflicts with these terms, it takes priority for that purchase, project, or organization.
2. Eligibility
ThingsLinker is intended for people aged 18 and over. By using the Services you confirm that you are at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract.
3. Your account
You need an account to use the ThingsLinker app and web portal. You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done with your account, and you must tell us promptly at support@thingslinker.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at app.thingslinker.com/delete-account; this cannot be undone.
4. Devices and organizations
Devices are linked to your account by the organization or supplier that provides them, and remain theirs. The organization decides which widgets and features a device has and may remove your access to a device. Deleting your account removes your access, not the device or its recorded readings.
5. Remote control, alerts and safety
The app and portal let you switch outputs, change settings, run automations, and receive alerts over the internet. Cloud commands, readings, notifications, and automations are not guaranteed to be instantaneous, continuous, or fail-safe. They depend on your devices, their power and network connection, mobile networks, and third-party services, and may be delayed, interrupted, or not delivered.
Do not rely on ThingsLinker for any purpose where a delay or failure could cause injury, loss of life, or damage to property or the environment, including safety, medical, life-support, or emergency systems.
ThingsLinker devices and Services are not certified safety controllers, unless we expressly state in writing that a specific product is certified for a specific safety use.
Your responsibility for devices
You are responsible for installing, wiring, powering, configuring, and using your devices safely, following the manufacturer’s instructions and local laws, and for whatever they are connected to. Mains-voltage wiring must be done by a qualified person.
Where your application needs it — for example with relays, pumps, motors, heaters, or industrial equipment — you must provide independent safety interlocks, local protection, manual overrides, and fail-safe behaviour that do not depend on ThingsLinker. Before controlling a device remotely, make sure no one can be harmed by it switching on or off.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- control devices you are not authorized to use, or interfere with other users’ devices;
- probe, scan, overload, or attack our services, or bypass any security or access limit;
- copy, scrape, or harvest data from the Services by automated means, except through APIs we provide for that purpose;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software, except where the law expressly allows it;
- use the Services to build a competing product or service, or resell or sublicense access to them, except as agreed with us in writing;
- upload malware or anything unlawful, harmful, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent your connection with anyone;
- use the Services for anything unlawful.
7. Fees, refunds and cancellation
Some features need a paid plan. Prices are shown in Indian rupees (INR) and taxes such as GST are added where they apply. Payments are processed by Cashfree Payments; we accept the payment methods offered on its checkout, such as cards, UPI, and net banking. You authorize us to charge your chosen payment method for the plan you select.
When refunds apply
- Voluntary cancellation: You can cancel at any time in your account or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and, to the extent permitted by law, fees for a billing period that has already started are not refunded.
- Duplicate or failed payments: If you are charged twice for the same order, or charged for a transaction that did not complete, we refund the extra amount once we confirm it with our payment processor.
- If we end or discontinue a paid Service: If we end your paid Service for a reason other than your breach of these terms, or discontinue it, we refund the unused prepaid part of your fees in proportion to the time remaining.
- Termination for breach: If we end your Service because you broke these terms, prepaid fees are not refunded, to the extent permitted by law.
- Your legal rights: Nothing in this section takes away any refund or remedy that applicable consumer law gives you.
Price changes and non-payment
- We may change prices. Changes apply from your next billing period, and we will tell you before they do.
- If a payment fails or a plan expires, we may limit or suspend paid features until it is paid.
- We may correct pricing errors, even after an order is placed, and may refuse or cancel an order. If we cancel an order for a pricing error after you have paid, we will refund the amount paid for that cancelled order, subject to applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
Our intellectual property
The Services, including their software, designs, text, graphics, logos, and the ThingsLinker and Tarangify names, are owned by or licensed to ThingsLinker and are protected by the copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of India and international treaties. Except for the limited right to use the Services under these terms, no rights are granted to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Engineering work
- Background IP: We keep full ownership of everything we bring to or develop outside a project, including our libraries, reusable modules, firmware frameworks, tools, templates, know-how, and design methods, even when they are used in work for you. Where background IP is built into a deliverable you have paid for, we grant you a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to use it as part of that deliverable — to use, maintain, modify, and manufacture the deliverable — but not to use it separately or in other products. You may permit your contractors and contract manufacturers to exercise these licensed rights solely on your behalf and for the purpose of using, maintaining, modifying, or manufacturing the paid deliverable, subject to appropriate confidentiality and use restrictions. They may not independently exploit or reuse our Background IP.
- Project deliverables: Project-specific files, schematics, PCB layouts, source code, firmware, and other work products are transferred or licensed to you only as stated in the signed proposal or agreement for that project, and only once the related fees are paid in full. Work not covered by a signed proposal needs a separate written agreement before any rights in it pass to you.
- Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licences.
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, we may use them for any purpose without any obligation or payment to you.
9. Your content and data
Through the app and portal you can create content such as device and widget names, alert rules, and support requests. This content remains yours and is handled under our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the right and any permissions needed to upload or connect the content, device data, contact details, and other material you provide.
You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit, and display your content and device data as needed to provide, secure, and improve the Services. We may use aggregated or anonymised data that does not identify you for any purpose. Although we keep regular backups, you are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important.
10. Apps, software and firmware
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to use our apps and software only to access the Services under these terms. If any software comes with its own licence (for example an open-source licence), that licence applies to it.
If you got the app from Google Play or another app store, that store’s terms also apply. The store is not responsible for the app or for support; we are.
11. Third-party services
The Services rely on third parties, including hosting providers, Google Firebase, payment processors, app stores, and mobile and internet networks. We do not control them and do not promise that they will be available without interruption. We are not responsible for their services, outages, or content, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms.
12. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we may change, add, or remove features, update the app and the device firmware library, or discontinue any part of the Services.
We will give at least 30 days’ notice before discontinuing a paid Service, and a chance to obtain a copy of your account data before it is deleted. If security risks, a legal requirement, or the failure of a third-party provider make that impossible, we will give as much notice as we reasonably can. Either way, unused prepaid fees are refunded under Section 7. This does not limit our right to suspend accounts under Section 13.
13. Suspension and termination
Immediate suspension
We may suspend or limit your account immediately, without notice, to protect the security of the Services or other users, to prevent harm or fraud, if a payment is not made, if the law or an authority requires it, or if you seriously break these terms.
Other breaches
For other breaches, we will tell you what is wrong and, where it can be put right, give you 15 days to do so before we suspend or close your account. If you are in breach, you may not open a new account without our permission.
What happens when an account ends
You can stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. When an account ends, your access stops, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, and prepaid fees are dealt with under Section 7. Sections that by their nature should continue, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and disputes, continue to apply.
14. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services, apps, software, and firmware are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that alerts or commands will be delivered, or that data will not be lost. You use the Services at your own risk.
15. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for loss or damage caused by how devices are installed, wired, powered, configured, or used, by use contrary to our instructions or these terms, by the absence of the independent safety measures described in Section 5, or by third-party services and events beyond our reasonable control.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or relating to the Services, even if we were told such loss was possible.
SUBJECT TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH OF THIS SECTION, AND NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY CONTAINED HEREIN, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS TOGETHER, FOR ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER AND REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF THE ACTION, WILL AT ALL TIMES BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT PAID OR PAYABLE BY YOU FOR THE AFFECTED SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE FIRST EVENT GIVING RISE TO A CLAIM, OR INR 5,000 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US ANYTHING.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, or any statutory right or remedy you have as a consumer that cannot be waived; the limits above do not apply to that liability. A separate written agreement with an organization may set a different limit for that organization.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify ThingsLinker and its directors, employees, and agents against third-party claims, and the resulting losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal costs, to the extent they are caused by:
- your unlawful use of the Services;
- your control of a device you were not authorized to use;
- unsafe installation, wiring, or operation of your devices;
- content or material you provide that infringes someone else’s rights; or
- your material breach of these terms.
Where several parties contributed to the same claim, your obligation is limited to the share caused by the conduct listed above. This does not cover claims to the extent they are caused by our own negligence or misconduct. We will tell you promptly about any claim, let you control its defence with counsel reasonably acceptable to us, and give reasonable help at your cost. You may not settle a claim in a way that admits fault on our behalf or binds us without our written consent.
17. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms. Our service providers may process personal data in India, Malaysia, and other locations described in our Privacy Policy. We handle such processing and transfers in accordance with applicable law.
18. Governing law and disputes
Binding arbitration
To the extent a dispute can be resolved by arbitration under Indian law, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, including any question about their existence, validity, or termination, shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The arbitrator shall be independent and impartial, and shall be appointed by agreement between the parties or, failing agreement within 30 days of a written request, in accordance with Section 11 of that Act. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, and the proceedings shall be in English. These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
Restrictions
To the full extent permitted by law, any arbitration is limited to the dispute between you and us individually: it will not be joined with any other proceeding, and no dispute may be arbitrated or brought as a class action or in a representative capacity.
Exceptions and courts
The following are not subject to arbitration: disputes about the validity or protection of either party’s intellectual property, claims about theft, piracy, invasion of privacy, or unauthorized use, and claims for injunctive relief. Subject to the arbitration clause, the courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat have exclusive jurisdiction, including for interim relief in support of arbitration. Nothing in this section requires you to give up a statutory remedy or removes any right you have as a consumer to approach a consumer commission or other forum that the law makes available to you.
19. General
- These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any policies we post for the Services are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services, subject to Section 1.
- If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms, for example in a merger or sale. You may not transfer yours without our written consent.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- You agree to receive notices, agreements, and other communications from us electronically, in the Services or by email, and that they satisfy any requirement to be in writing.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version applies from the date it is posted on this page, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email where the law requires. If you keep using the Services after a change, you accept the updated terms.
